It took Garrett less than five minutes to escape the castle. Getting out wasn't the problem-he and the Minor Gang had done that on hundreds of occasions. The problem was ... where should he go now that he had gotten out?
The Minorville Castle was located right in the middle of the Gritchy Forest, and, as a result, large sycamore trees surrounded it from all sides. Only one road led in and out of the castle. Its official name was Waverly Road, but the Minor Gang knew it simply as Ghost Lane. It was a dark and lonely road, made of nothing but dirt and surrounded by large ominous trees for as far as the eye could see. If you took Ghost Lane one way, you'd end up in the heart of Schillytown. If you took it the other way-well, Garrett had no idea where it went the other way. He'd heard stories, had nightmares about it, but he had never discovered for certain. All he did know was that Ghost Road was dangerous. If the wild animals from the forest weren't bad enough, the Peril Pits were. He had never seen a Peril Pit and he hoped he never would. But it was certainly something he feared.
