Family
The Family is an integral part of everything that we do at The Crossings. Did you know that many studies have said that over 80% of the young people who grow up in a church end up leaving it once they are in their college years? What if we could get back to the Biblical picture of family where the church was not the spiritual feeding tube of the home but rather a partner and equipper for mom and dad to teach their children the stories and life of Jesus? This is the pursuit in which we find ourselves at The Crossings. We are pursuing the model of home and family described in Deuteronomy 6.
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."
We believe it is our role as a church to give parents the resources and training to pursue this picture of family. We do this through providing easily implemented resources that guide families through a conversation about Biblical ideas. We currently provide TwoFortyTwo which is a monthly resource written for all ages. We provide listening guides for the elementary age children each Sunday that serve as Biblical discussion guides for mom and dad as well. We provide many other shared opportunities for the family to learn, grow, and play together. It is our deepest desire to see homes transformed by the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ.
We have just launched our Youth Ministry initiative. Our desire is to foster an environment of discipleship and fun. We are striving to create a place where your students wants to be and can engage the life changing truth of the Gospel. We know that most spiritual formation begins and is sustained within the home, so here at The Crossings we desire to partner with and equip parents to disciple their students. During these formidable years communication between parents and youth can become strained, so we desire to bridge the gap, constantly reinforcing and encouraging the parent's spiritual role in their lives. Loud music will one day fade, programs and cool youth pastors will come and go, but parents will be the constant that your student needs and will rely on while navigating their spiritual path.
