4th Man in the Fire
We all face moments when life feels overwhelming—when the pressure is high, and the heat is on. Maybe you’ve been there lately. Maybe you’re walking through the fire right now. This Sunday, we’re diving into one of the most powerful stories in Scripture: the fiery furnace in Daniel 3.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the flames for refusing to bow to a false god. But they weren’t alone. The king looked into the fire and saw a fourth man—someone who looked like the Son of God—standing with them.
That same Jesus is still showing up today.
Our message, Fourth Man in the Fire, is all about God’s faithfulness in our hardest moments and our call to remain faithful to Him. We’ll be reminded that even when God doesn’t keep us out of the fire, He always steps in and walks with us through it.
Day 2: Trials Reveal the Depth of Genuine Faith
Trials don’t create faith—they reveal it.
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the furnace, the fire didn’t generate their faith. It exposed the strength of the trust they had already cultivated. In the same way, our hardships uncover the true condition of our hearts.
God uses trials not to destroy our faith, but to refine and purify it. That’s why cultivating a deep trust in God during peaceful seasons is so important. When difficulties come, we don’t scramble to invent faith—we draw from a deep well that has already been filled.
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
— James 1:2-3
Reflection:
Think about a recent challenge you faced. How did it reveal the condition of your faith? What might God be refining in you through that experience?
