We are One
our We Are One series challenged us to embrace the unity God calls His church to live out. We began by setting a vision for church unity, recognizing that we are one body made up of many unique parts, each with a vital role in God’s Kingdom. We reflected on the sanctity of life, affirming the value of every person as created in God’s image. Finally, we concluded by focusing on our shared mission—to work together in spreading the gospel and making disciples. Unity is not just an ideal; it’s a calling that shapes how we love, serve, and fulfill God’s purpose. As we move forward, may we continue walking in unity, building one another up, and reflecting Christ’s love in all we do.
Day 1: Unity Through Humility and Love
Unity in Christ is not merely about agreeing on the surface but involves a profound spiritual connection that requires humility, love, and a shared purpose. This unity transcends individual preferences and focuses on the collective mission of spreading the gospel. It calls for a selfless attitude where personal desires are set aside for the greater good of the community. By embracing humility and love, believers can foster a deep bond that reflects the unity of the body of Christ. This unity is essential for the church to effectively carry out its mission and witness to the world.
Ephesians 4:2-3 (ESV): “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Reflection: Consider a situation where your personal preferences have overshadowed the collective mission of your community. How can you practice humility and love to foster unity in that situation today?
