Who is Your Daddy and What Does He Do?

This Father’s Day message takes a fresh look at the story of the prodigal son, not from the son’s view but from the heart of the father. In Luke 15, Jesus paints a picture of a father who does not just wait at the door. He runs to meet his son with compassion and grace.

Whether you have wandered far or stayed close but grown cold, this message is a reminder of the kind of Father God truly is. He lets us go, but He never stops loving us. He moves toward us, not away. And He loves all His children, no matter their story.

Come discover what it means to know who your Father really is and how that changes everything.

Day 2: The Father Runs to Welcome Us Home
Reading: Luke 15:17–24

The turning point in the story is not when the son returns—it is when the father sees him and runs to him. Before the son can finish his apology, the father is already embracing him. He is not interested in shame or punishment. He is interested in restoration. He throws a robe on his back, a ring on his finger, and throws a party.

That is the heart of our God. His love is not passive. It is active, compassionate, and eager. When we come to our senses and turn toward Him, we do not find hesitation. We find celebration. We find a Father who runs.

Reflection: When you think about returning to God after a failure, do you imagine Him running to you with joy or holding back? How does this story challenge your view?
