Wrapping Up the Trailblazers Series This Sunday!

Hey Church Family,

I can’t believe we’re already wrapping up our Trailblazers series this Sunday! Over the past few weeks, we’ve walked through what it means to be part of The Crossings Community Church—from understanding God’s Kingdom to discipleship, community impact, and how we function as a church family.

This Sunday, Justin and I will be reviewing everything we’ve covered and taking time to answer any questions you may have about membership, serving, or anything else related to the church. Whether you’ve been here for years or you’re just getting plugged in, we want to make sure you feel confident about what it means to be part of The Crossings.

If you already have a question in mind, we’d love to hear from you ahead of time! Email me at phil@thecrossings.cc, and we’ll do our best to cover it during our time together.

Looking forward to a great Sunday with you all!

Blessings,

Phil Graves

Exciting News About Our Worship Ministry!
Hi everyone my name is Maggie Wyckoff and It has been my pleasure to lead the worship ministry of the growing Crossings Community Church. This new church plant has offered an opportunity to revamp and reevaluate our worship ministry. The sale of the building has allowed for the purchase of the programs and equipment that are ideal for a growing our church and the worship ministry.

What is the overall vision?

My vision for worship has always been to create an environment that encourages our congregation to lay aside the worries of the week and turn their focus to the things of Jesus. It also is specifically a time where we become aware of the community we are connected with, and corporately join together to praise our savior.

What has changed/will be changing?

  • There is going to be increased, focused on corporate scripture-based prayer as an opening to the worship portion of the service.
  • You have probably already seen Samya on stage a lot more often. Samya has officially accepted the position of worship intern. She is not only learning the ropes of leading worship on Sunday morning, running the worship program, and choosing songs, but she has also entered into a spiritual discipleship relationship with me. We spend our time not only evaluating the musical elements of worship, but also the spiritual.
  • You will also begin to see many new faces on stage. There are quite a few individuals who will be joining us on the worship team for the quarter beginning in April. The volunteer process for the worship team has been streamlined and involves a quarterly commitment to both Sunday mornings and additional practice times.
  • You will begin hearing new songs. We will be choosing a selection of songs each quarter that the team will be learning and bringing to you. We will occasionally return to old favorites, but we will also be finally incorporating new music for the first time in about a year. You will hear your first sampling of this new music in the month of March.

We are excited to see how God begins to grow this ministry. In the meantime, we are always open to hearing from folks who have musical gifts of any type, especially in the instrumental realm, for next quarter.

Updates on Our Young Adult & Liturgical Dance Ministries.

Hello everyone. My name Is Tonyette Hall and I have the honor to lead both the young adults ministry referred to as "30 Below" and our new Liturgical Dance ministry.

30 Below

30 Below is a unique ministry within the BCM/D Collegiate Ministry “world” because we are not affiliated with/meet at a college and have no immediate plans to do so.

While this difference can present a challenge in some ways, it also offers us the opportunity to attract all kinds of young adults, not just ones who attend a particular school. 30 Below meets every Wednesday at 6:30 PM.

The end time varies because after Bible study, prayer, worship, and snacking (with the occasional full meal), we enjoy time just getting to catch up with each other via our weekly “Updates” segment.

Currently comprised of young adults ages 18 to 28 who come from various backgrounds and beliefs, some attend college, some work, some do both and some do neither. Some 30 Below-ers, as I affectionately call them, are dating or in relationships, while others are not. The group is a beautiful blend of individuals.

We offer a safe place for young adults to come and learn about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity, ask questions, and find others who are interested in a community all while having the comfort to be themselves.

The church can support us via prayer, snack donations (money for them or snacks themselves), and alerting us of opportunities to serve (like at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter) or other events that would benefit young (mostly Christian) adults.

Liturgical Dance Ministry

Dance is mentioned multiple times in the Bible. It is used as a means of praising and worshiping God as well as celebrating God-given victories. There are examples of people dancing alone (King David in 2 Samuel 6) as well as in groups (Miriam leading a group of women in Exodus 15).

The Crossings’ Liturgical Dance Ministry is founded and will be based on Psalm 149:3 and Psalm 150:4 which both encourage us to praise God with dancing.

Members of this ministry will not only dance together, but we will study and grow together spiritually. First and most importantly in the Word of God, but also in various skills (such as various styles of dance, pageantry, sign and mime).

All for the purpose of encouraging others to find different ways to offer praise and worship to God, both together on Sundays and also in their personal time with God at home every day. (Important note: dance is not only for women, or young people, or even those “in shape.” If you are interested, please feel free to see me.)
