Who Have You Invited Lately?
Hello, Church Family!
Let’s get real for a moment: when is the last time you personally invited someone to church? Did you know that the most effective tool for growing God’s Kingdom isn’t a fancy program or slick social media (although Miss Regan and Maggie are doing a great Job!) it’s a simple, personal invitation?
Research shows that around 82% of people who don’t attend church say they’d come if someone they know invited them. Even more striking, if you offer to pick them up or meet them at the door, their likelihood of coming doubles and yet, only 2% of churchgoing Christians actually invite an unchurched person in a given year
Why is this so important? First, because Jesus calls us to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19). Inviting people to church isn’t just about filling seats—it’s about helping people meet Christ and join a spiritual family. Second, church is the context where people hear the gospel, experience genuine community, and can begin their faith journey. Every invitation is a step of obedience and love.
And let me remind you: you don’t need to have all the answers or be a Bible scholar. You just need to care. Sometimes people need to see a friendly face in the parking lot or sit next to someone who can show them where to go. Even a simple, “Want to sit with me this Sunday?” can change a life.
Imagine the impact if every Crossings member committed to pray each week, “Lord, who can I invite?” Imagine the joy of seeing neighbors, friends, or coworkers come to know Christ simply because you took a step of courage and asked. If even half of us invited one person this month, think of what God could do!
So, church family, let’s make this a habit: each week, pray for those you know who need Jesus or a loving church family. Look for opportunities in your daily conversations, at work, at the bank, in line at the grocery store. And remember, the “yes” isn’t up to us, our job is to invite in love and trust God with the result.
Let’s be an inviting church full of faith, boldness, and hospitality. Who will you invite this week?
