Psalm 51 & Repentance

Psalm 51 shows that real repentance is not trying harder but receiving God’s mercy. In this message we unpack how God opens our eyes, breaks our hearts over sin, and creates in us a new heart that restores joy, worship, and witness. Scriptures include Psalm 51, Acts 11:18, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Ezekiel 36:26–27, and 1 John 1:8–9.

Day 1: Repentance Begins With God

Scripture: Acts 11:18; Psalm 51:1–2

Devotional Thought: Repentance is not you climbing back to God. It is God bending down in mercy, opening your eyes, and turning your heart. David does not bargain or promise better behavior. He pleads, “Have mercy on me.” Real turning starts with real grace.

Reflection Question: Where have you treated repentance like self-improvement instead of a gift to receive?

Prayer: Merciful Father, open my eyes to sin, soften my heart, and draw me back to You. Let my turning begin with Your grace, not my resolve.

Action Step: Begin today with five minutes of silent confession. Only ask for mercy, then read Psalm 51 aloud.
