Unstoppable:The Church on Mission

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit used ordinary people to launch an extraordinary movement—the Church. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission of God moved forward through bold preaching, sacrificial living, and Spirit-empowered obedience. That same mission is still alive today. In this 15-week series, we’ll walk through the book of Acts and discover how God wants to use us—right here, right now—as part of His unstoppable plan to bring hope to the world.

Day 1 – When Complaints Expose Gaps

Scripture: Acts 6:1

Big idea: Honest complaints can uncover places where the church is not living out the gospel yet.

Reflection:
The early church was growing, diverse, and full of the Spirit. It was also messy. The Hellenistic widows were being overlooked, and it felt like favoritism. Instead of shrugging it off, God allowed the complaint to surface so the apostles could see a gap they had missed. Justin reminds us that leaders cannot see everything. Sometimes the only way a need comes into focus is when someone is bold enough to speak up. The goal is not to vent or stir drama, but to help the church become more faithful to Jesus.

Heart check:

  • When I see something broken in the church, do I gossip about it, ignore it, or bring it humbly to the right people?

  • Could one of my complaints actually be an invitation from God to help meet a need?

Prayer:
“Lord, give me courage to speak truth with humility, and give my leaders open hearts to listen. Use my words to build up your church, not tear it down.”

Today’s step:
Write down one concern about your church. Pray over it. Then decide if you should share it with a leader and offer to help.
