Unstoppable:The Church on Mission

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit used ordinary people to launch an extraordinary movement—the Church. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission of God moved forward through bold preaching, sacrificial living, and Spirit-empowered obedience. That same mission is still alive today. In this 15-week series, we’ll walk through the book of Acts and discover how God wants to use us—right here, right now—as part of His unstoppable plan to bring hope to the world.

Day 3 – Sober Minded and Trustworthy

Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:8; Ephesians 5:18; 1 Peter 5:8

Devotional Thought:
Paul says deacons must not be addicted to much wine. The bigger idea is sober mindedness. Nothing should own their mind, dull their judgment, or drive their choices besides the Spirit of God. In a world that normalizes self-medicating and chasing a buzz, Scripture calls leaders, and really all believers, to be clear headed and alert. That includes how we handle alcohol, drugs, prescriptions, and even habits that fog our thinking. Deacons are trusted with people, money, and ministry. They need clear heads and steady hearts.

Reflection Question:
Is there anything in your life right now that is quietly taking over your attention, your emotions, or your self-control?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, show me anything that is dulling my mind or owning my heart. Help me live sober minded, awake, and ready for what You call me to do.
