Unstoppable:The Church on Mission

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit used ordinary people to launch an extraordinary movement—the Church. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission of God moved forward through bold preaching, sacrificial living, and Spirit-empowered obedience. That same mission is still alive today. In this 15-week series, we’ll walk through the book of Acts and discover how God wants to use us—right here, right now—as part of His unstoppable plan to bring hope to the world.

Day 2: Don’t Cover Your Ears

Scripture: Acts 7:57
Big idea: You can shut out truth, but you can’t shut out reality.

“They stopped their ears.” That is one of the saddest lines in the whole story. It’s a picture of someone who knows they’re being confronted and chooses to silence it.

We do the same thing, just with different tools. We scroll. We distract. We get busy. We blame somebody else. We stay mad so we don’t have to be honest.

The Holy Spirit isn’t trying to ruin your day. He’s trying to rescue your soul.

If God is pressing on something in you right now, don’t block it out. Don’t numb it. Don’t explain it away. Bring it into the light.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, open my ears. Help me hear what I need to hear, even when it stings.
Call to action: Read Acts 7:54–60 slowly. Ask, “What part of this story is most like me right now?”
