Unstoppable:The Church on Mission

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit used ordinary people to launch an extraordinary movement—the Church. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission of God moved forward through bold preaching, sacrificial living, and Spirit-empowered obedience. That same mission is still alive today. In this 15-week series, we’ll walk through the book of Acts and discover how God wants to use us—right here, right now—as part of His unstoppable plan to bring hope to the world.

Day 5: Dying Well, Living Better

Scripture: Acts 7:60
Big idea: The goal isn’t to “win” every moment. It’s to be faithful.

The text says Stephen “fell asleep.” That’s Bible language for death, but it’s also a picture of peace. Stephen’s life ends violently, but his soul is steady.

Most of us won’t face what Stephen faced. But we will face moments where truth costs us something. Where obedience makes things harder. Where following Jesus means we don’t get the last word.

Stephen’s story asks a question: what kind of person am I becoming?

When you live close to Jesus, anger loses power. Forgiveness comes quicker. Apologies happen sooner. Pride gets quieter. The gaps between conflict and repentance get smaller.

That’s maturity.

Prayer: Jesus, make me the kind of person who responds like You, even when I’m under pressure.
Call to action: Practice a quick repentance today. If you get sharp with someone, don’t wait. Circle back fast.
