Home for Christmas

What does it really mean to come home for Christmas?

The story of Jesus’ birth is often told in warm, familiar ways, but behind it is a journey filled with exhaustion, uncertainty, fear, and waiting. Mary and Joseph didn’t welcome Jesus in comfort or familiarity. They welcomed Him far from home, under pressure, and without knowing what would come next.

These posts explore the birth of Christ through the lens of longing for home, not just a physical place, but the deeper sense of peace, rest, and belonging we all crave.

If you are tired, anxious, or feeling far from where you want to be, this reflection invites you to slow down and consider the hope, comfort, and rest Jesus offers, not only someday in heaven, but right now.

Day 2: When God Sends You Further Than You Planned

Scripture: Matthew 2:13–15

Devotional Thought:
Mary and Joseph wanted to go home, but God sent them in the opposite direction. Following God does not always mean taking the shortest or easiest path. Sometimes obedience leads us further away before it brings us back.

Reflection Question:
Is there an area of your life where God is asking you to trust Him instead of rushing back to comfort?

Prayer:
Father, help me trust Your direction even when I do not understand it. Teach me to follow You with patience and faith.
