Unstoppable:The Church on Mission

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit used ordinary people to launch an extraordinary movement—the Church. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission of God moved forward through bold preaching, sacrificial living, and Spirit-empowered obedience. That same mission is still alive today. In this 15-week series, we’ll walk through the book of Acts and discover how God wants to use us—right here, right now—as part of His unstoppable plan to bring hope to the world.

Day 2: Counterfeit Power Can Still Be Power

Read: Acts 8:9–11
Focus: Not everything supernatural is from God.

Simon amazed the city. That means whatever he was doing had real impact. The Bible doesn’t brush it off as party tricks. It shows something deeper: people can be drawn to power that is not holy. They were impressed, but they weren’t free. They were entertained, but they weren’t transformed.

That’s still true. Our world sells spiritual shortcuts. Control your future. Manifest your desires. Get a reading. Get a ritual. Get a vibe. But the end of those roads is never peace. It’s always bondage dressed up like enlightenment.

Daily step: Do a “spiritual inventory.” Is there anything you’ve normalized that Scripture forbids? Ask God for conviction and courage.

Prayer: Jesus, keep me from counterfeit things that pull my heart away from You.
